Google is quietly experimenting with a new design for voice search in its Android app. The update brings a cleaner look and introduces a Shazam-style song search feature, making the experience feel more aligned with Google's ongoing AI push, Android Authority gave credits to @shishirverm on Telegram, who spotted the recent change. The test was first spotted in the beta version 16.36.40 of the Google app. Normally, tapping the microphone icon in the app or widget opens a simple screen that says "listening " along with recent searches and suggestions. Now, the redesigned version ditches those extra elements in favour of a sleeker interface, the report added. Song Search May Get A Redesign

One of the standout parts of the test is the updated song search. Previously, users had to tap "Search for a song" to get a small animation and a subtle prompt. In the new version, Google has made the option much more prominent. The screen now carries the same pulsing animation seen in AI search, with a clear and bold "Play Sing Hum" message that encourages users to try it out.

If this comes into effect, then Android user will also get a feature which will be just like the Apple's Shazam integration on iOS, where finding a song is just as simple. Whether you hum, sing, or play music nearby, the app tries to identify it instantly.

Who Will Get It?

If you're eager to test this redesign, you may need to be patient. Even with the latest beta installed, the update is controlled from Google's servers, which means not everyone will see it right away. Some users may still get the old layout for now.

It's also worth noting that this isn't Google's only experiment in this space. A couple of weeks ago, the Play Store voice search got its own design refresh. Interestingly, the Play Store version still resembles the older style that Google is now moving away from, which suggests more AI-inspired tweaks may be on the way.
