In a strategic move towards bringing education in different languages, Google has partnered with NCERT to initiate YouTube channels in 29 different languages. The tech giant has collaborated with NCERT to launch multiple YouTube channels that will be focused on delivering content in several languages. The partnership with the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) will bring quality education to students in every corner of India. The initiative will not just deliver content in various local languages, but will also include Sign Language over the coming months.
The YouTube channels will focus mainly on the curriculum of grades 1 to 12. It will offer content in approachable and convenient formats that are not difficult for students. The initiative will not just empower students but will guide their parents and teachers as well. Remote areas will be the main focus of this initiative so that people in rural areas are much more aware of the importance of education and the need to bring their children to the forefront in terms of learning and development.
Additionally, Google also announced its collaboration with the National Programme on Technology Enhanced Learning (NPTEL). This partnership will focus on rolling out credentialed courses. These courses lead to professional or vocational qualifications which can be obtained via academic or non-academic routes. Recently, NPTEL has offered 50 credentialed courses in several subjects, including science, literature, sports psychology, and rocket propulsion. The initiative with NPTEL will create a pathway for students who are outside the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) system. The students will be able to complete their courses on NPTEL’s YouTube channels. Students can complete their certification on the NPTEL-SWAYAM portal. However, the cherry on the cupcake they will receive the certification from IITs.
There are several enhancements that Google is bringing with the introduction of Key Concepts using Artificial Intelligence. The feature of key concepts is covered in the video and provides concepts from several subjects, including chemistry, biology, and physics.
