As per official website of Income Tax Department, India the due date of filing of ITRs for AY2025-26, which are due for filing by 31st July 2025 has been extended to 15th September 2025.

How to File Your ITR for 2025-2026 in India:

The process is simple but a lengthy one.

STEP1: The first step in order to file your ITR for 2025-2026, you have to log in to the official website of the Income Tax Department using your PAN card and password: The official website for ITR filing is: https://www.incometax.gov.in

STEP2: Now head straight to the ITR filings ection that comes under e-File-Income Tax Returns-and then File Income Tax Returns.

STEP3: You have to select the assessment year including 2025-26 and now select the online mode and cick Continue button.

STEP4: Select your status as Individual, HUF, or Others. Most taxpayers fall under ‘Individual’.

STEP5: One of the most important things to follow here is to select the correct and right ITR form for you that will be based on your income type. There are three sections divided for salaried individuals, capital gains for business persons, and presumptive income for business or professionals.

STEP6: The next step is to select your reason for filing.

STEP7: You have to review your form and then click on Confirmation button. Confirm your aadhar card, bank details, salary and income details, deductions that come under Sections 80C, 80D, and more.
