Union Budget 2024: Mobile phones and chargers could be cheaper!

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced the Union Budget 2024 in Parliament earlier today.

The minister made an interesting announcement that gives relief to mobile phone users in India. 

Sitharaman announced reduction in basic custom duty on mobile phones, mobile PCBA, and mobile chargers to 15 percent.

That's nothing but good news, as this could mean that mobile phone makers in India may be able to reduce the prices of their phones. 

As a result, buyers may be able to purchase mobile phones and parts, including chargers at a lower price. 

It is worth noting that the same won't be applicable on devices imported as Completely Built Units (CBUs). 

While there will be a scope of reduction in the final costs, it remains to be seen if brands choose to do so.
