Microsoft has shared an astonishing data about the Friday outage.

The faulty CrowdStrike update crashed 8.5 million Windows devices on Friday.

However, those represent less than one percent of all active Windows devices globally.

But the outage was big enough to disrupt airline, banking, and retail services in several countries at once.

Both CrowdStrike and Microsoft apologised for the worldwide disruption.

CrowdStrike explained that certain configuration files in the Falcon sensor malfunctioned.

The configuration update triggered a logic error and caused the Blue Screen of Death (BSOD).

Both companies are still working to fix the impacted systems.
