The new year has just begun and ISRO has already launched its first satellite of the year
ISRO successfully launched the X-ray Polarimeter Satellite (XPoSat) today at 9:10 AM from SDSC-SHAR, Sriharikota
The mission was carried out on a PSLV-C58 vehicle
The PSLV-C58 vehicle placed the satellite into the intended orbit of 650km with a 6-degree inclination
This is the first dedicated polarimetry mission, which will study the dynamics of bright astronomical X-ray sources in extreme conditions
The mission has two payloads - POLIX (Polarimeter Instrument in X-rays) and XSPECT (X-ray Spectroscopy and Timing)
POLIX will measure the polarimeter parameter in a medium X-ray energy range of 8-30 keV photons of astronomical origin
XPECT will offer spectroscopic information in the energy range of 08-15 keV
