What is nomophobia and how to cope with it

Nomophobia stands for no-mobile-phone phobia, a term first coined in a 2008 study by te UK Postal Office.

If you feel anxious or even panicked when away from your phone, you may have some symptoms of nomophobia.

In simple terms, the fear of being without your phone is called nomophobia.

According to a study, about 53% experience nomophobia in a sample of over 2,100 adults.

About 9 percent people fear turning their phone off, while 10 percent said they needed to be contactable.

Nomophobic people experience stress, anxiety, and restlessness if they lose their phones, run out of battery, or have no internet.

In severe cases, these symptoms can escalate into a panic attack.

Those experiencing nomophobia should consult a mental health professional immediately.
