Budget - Decide your budget and stick to it. You can get basic/all-rounder laptops between 30k to 50k and performance laptops from 50k and above.
Check options from all brands - Don't go for a specific brand at the beginning, first explore all available options.
Check the model's official name, official website listing, and full specs.
Choose a screen size - 13-inch, 14-inch, 15-inch, etc. Make sure the laptop has an IPS screen and not a VN panel. Check viewing angles. Also, check the webcam.
Check the processor model - Make sure it's a Ryzen 5000/6000 series or an Intel 13th Gen/14th Gen laptop.
Check the processor variant - Go with the H/HX or P series chips if you want performance as the U series is meant for efficiency. (Eg - Ryzen 5500H or Intel i5 13420H).
Go with dedicated GPU laptops such as Nvidia 3050 or Radeon RX 6500M if you need performance for gaming/graphical work.
SSD is a must - Your laptop must have an SSD and there should be an expandable slot for additional storage. Don't go for HDD laptops in 2024.
Check for free software- New laptops come with MS Office and Antivirus software pre-installed. Make sure you are getting it if required.
After you check all things, select a few models and check their reviews online, compare prices, and then make your final decision.
Bonus - Don't fall for freebies - Many offline vendors offer free backpacks or mice with laptops, however, they may reduce the price of the laptop if you don't accept these freebies.
