China's BYD to launch new EV in India: Bookings open

Elon Musk's Tesla competitor BYD showcased the BYD Seal electric sedan last year. 

Now, it's launching in India on March 5 and the pre-bookings have begun on the company website. 

This is BYD's third EV in India after BYD Atto 3 and BYD e6. 

The Seal EV will be brought into the country as a CBU and will be assembled in the Chennai plant. 

The 5-seater SUV has a sporty design with boomerang-like headlamps. 

The electric sedan packs an 82.5 kWh battery. It has a WLTP range of 570 km. 

It offers 230 hp and 360Nm torque. It can go from 0-100 km/h in 5.9 seconds. 

BYD Seal is expected to be priced at around Rs 50 lakh ex-showroom.
