7 Things to know about Bharat NCAP

Bharat NCAP will come into effect starting today

Bharat NCAP will give cars a star rating from one to five

Rating will be based on occupant protection and safety features

The programme is voluntary and based on the Global NCAP

Government may select cars based on popularity, market feedback or public safety

It applies to passenger vehicles with up to 8 seats and under 3,500 kgs

Only the base model of a car variant will be tested under Bharat NCAP
