Traffic rule breakers, AI cameras in Delhi are coming after you

Delhi Traffic Police is turning to Artificial Intelligence (AI) to penalise violators.

AI-enabled cameras will be installed at different locations across New Delhi to catch law breakers.

The AI algorithms will check for 19 violations, including riding without helmets, three riders on a two-wheeler, and driving without seat belt.

The cameras will work on automatic number plate recognition (ANPR) detection system.

This will reduce pressure on traffic policemen across the city.

Authorities believe the hi-tech cameras will help nail violators of different laws.

AI will also help detect duplicate licence plates and end-of-life vehicles.

These cameras can even tell when a vehicle is overloaded, among others.
