The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) has launched UPI One World service.

It is a UPI-based wallet for foreigners and NRI travellers from participating countries.

Foreign nationals and NRIs can use UPI services in India, eliminating the need for carrying forex.

The wallet is issued by Prepaid Payment Instrument (PPI) issuers at airports, hotels, money exchange centres, and other spots.

A user has to complete their full KYC (Know Your Customer) formality to obtain the wallet.

They also need to furnish passport and visa details to enrol for UPI One World.

A user can store money in the wallet and use it by scanning UPI QR codes at merchant outlets.

The remaining balance will be credited back to the source on request.
