Save Storage! How to Turn Off Auto-Download On Telegram

Telegram can auto-download every photo, video, and file sent your way. It’s helpful, but it can also fill up storage faster than you realize.

Here’s how to turn it off and save space. Tap the three lines or profile icon → open Settings. This is your hub for all media and storage controls.

Head to Data and Storage. You’ll find all auto-download and usage settings tucked inside this section.

Locate Automatic Media Download. These toggles decide what downloads itself and when.

Switch off Photos, Videos, and Files for Private chats, Groups, and Channels. No more surprise downloads.

Also turn off When using mobile data and Wi-Fi under auto-download. You stay in control, not the app.

Visit Storage Usage to clear old cached media or set a storage limit. One clean sweep frees tons of space. And it's done!
