How To Control Your Instagram's Algorithm

Instagram now lets you manually fine-tune your Reels recommendations. Your interests change — and now your feed can finally change with you.

“Your Algorithm” Panel: While watching Reels, tap the two-line + heart icon on the top right. This opens your personalized algorithm settings.

Instagram shows a list of topics it thinks you care about. These are the themes shaping what appears on your Reels feed.

Search or type topics you want more or less of. The algorithm updates instantly based on your preferences.

Instagram’s AI adjusts your Reels suggestions in real time - making your feed more relevant to your evolving interests.

You can share your interest list to your Story, letting friends see what you’re currently into.

More Controls coming soon! This feature starts with Reels in the US, rolling out globally. Instagram plans to add the same controls to Explore and other tabs soon.
