How to control who can message you on Instagram

Open Instagram and go to your profile page.

Tap the three-line menu in the top-right corner.

Go to Settings and privacy and open Messages and story replies.

Tap Message controls to manage who can send you messages.

Choose whether followers, friends, or others can send message requests.

You can also stop certain people from sending message requests completely.

Adjust these settings to reduce spam and unwanted messages.
